James Robinson Artist
James Robinson, a native of the Lone Star State, is one of the most talented painters of Texas and the West and all it represents. He is proud of his heritage. His ancestors were early pioneers to Texas in the early 1840's. In those days Texas' unspoiled beauty, untraveled terrain, rugged bluffs and creeks dominated. Robinson was inspired by their stories and chose Texas's rugged landscape as his primary subject matter. An intimate knowledge of Texas and the many facets of the western landscape are obvious when one views a painting created by the artist.
Robinson has always been influenced by such artists as Frank Tenney Johnson, James Reynolds, Howard Terpning, John Singer Sargent and Joaquin Sorolla. He seeks to evoke these qualities in his own work but establishing his own niche in western art. His paintings are known for a combination of light, color and action that guarantees a lasting impact on the viewer.
