Murray Eisner
|
Murray Eisner was born and raised in the Catskill’s in upstate New York in 1957. He demonstrated a natural creative talent early in his childhood and was featured in a local newspaper as, “Murray the Artist,” at just three years of age. By the first grade, Murray was enrolled in orthodox Jewish religious school as his primary formal education, since his father was an orthodox Rabbi. By the second grade, this created a “question everything” mentality for Murray which was perpetuated throughout his life. The most notable influence was a teacher that once said this, “There are two reasons for doing everything, the first of which is that there is a reason for doing it and the second is that there is no reason for not doing it.” The later of the two reasons is what he feels has propelled him to create his art in the way in which he does. More Biography Information... As a college student, Murray Eisner studied art in various mediums including architecture, painting, and photography at Pratt Institute and the University of Buffalo. Murray found formal education to be to stifling and constricting, therefore skipping many classes in order to paint. He felt that his creative energy was better put to use in this way and as a true artist would do, he followed his heart and his art. During this period, Eisner perfected his artistic technique, while furthering his artistic visions. Eisner, who splashed onto the art scene in the early 80’s was inspired by the “hippie revolution” and embraced the belief of peace, love, and understanding which is evident everywhere in his artwork. Today, using a combination of oils, acrylics and Giclée printing, Murray Eisner creates his own unique style of art that’s captivating, enlightening, and funky. Eisner’s philosophy when it comes to creating his art is this, ”Before I start to create a piece, I often meditate and by doing so, an idea, sometimes based on what I just saw, or thought, or even heard, will pop into my head. As I am creating, my thoughts and visions synchronize naturally based on the energy that is needed at the moment. The energy feels like a power that takes over my mind and hands.” One of his favorite quotes is by Picasso and goes something like this- it took me a lifetime to paint like a child and a child does it naturally from within. Murray Eisner too has the feeling that he would like to paint naturally, like a child would. He is able by virtue of imagination, talent, and skill to create works of irresistible aesthetic value. The consummate artist, he has exhibited in many galleries throughout Florida, throughout New York, and throughout Israel, and elsewhere. Exhibitions: Legacy Fine Art and
