Chris Owen's paintings portray of the spirit and
essence of the American cowboy. Owen depicts the human and
equine figures with a genuinely personal and subjective approach, and
with a sense of controlled spontaneity. Through his art, he bears the
hopes, dreams and passions, not only for himself, but for all who live
the American West.

Chris Owen's working cowboy themes are a
representation of authentic, operating ranch activities. Once known for
painting predominantly with gouache, he now paints with oils as well.
Mr. Owen majored in art at Montana State University, and was later the
recipient of a scholarship to the acclaimed Art Center College of Design
in Los Angeles, where he studied for two years. He shows at the Coors
Western Art Exhibit in Denver, Colorado and was their official poster
artist in 2003. He also shows at the Cheyenne Frontier Days, Governor's
Invitational Art Show where he has won the "Museum Purchase"
and "Limited Edition Print Artist" awards. His painting
"A Cowboy's Morning" won the international "Benny
Award" for the finest Giclee in 2006.
