| “Old Frontier Days was in
full swing. The highlight of the festival was always the Soap Box Derby.
Kids from all over town spent countless hours designing and building
their racers. One child would push while another would drive. The
homemade carts always seemed to be evenly matched and it was anyone’s
guess as to who would end up with the annual bragging rights and the
Chamber of Commerce Trophy . Well, this year we had a surprise entry who
would change the history of the, up to now, all boy’s race. She won
the final heat and broke all the past records for speed and elapsed
time. The race would never be the same again.”
